During a business trip to Paris, Sigimond meets Diana, an alluring prostitute. Ignoring a letter from home, he continues the relationship without any regard for his wife and his promise not to betray her. When Sigimond finally reads the letter, he finds that tragedy has struck at home and it is too late for him to act upon it.
